More storage, better function, and a place for the family to hang out is what was needed for this Tewksbury family. The existing kitchen was dark, lacked storage, did not function well, and the table space was small. The load bearing wall between the kitchen and dining room was opened to create a large, highly usable family space. The window over the kitchen sink was enlarged to bring in loads of natural light and a better view to the clients’ great backyard. The large island is now the space to gather, play games, do homework, and share meals. Storage abounds in the walk-in pantry and a separate area was created for kid-friendly access to puzzles, games, and craft items. The window seat is now a great place to sit and knit (the client is an avid knitter), enjoy a little sunshine and is a great overflow space when the family entertains.
