Did you know Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel has been around the Salem and Amherst, NH, communities since 1989? That’s right! Decades ago, the idea for a local remodeling company was born out of a spare room and a beat up pick-up truck. Dave & Brenda Bryan had developed the perfect vision—a world class remodeling company. The next step was to put it into practice!

Starting Blackdog/Design/Remodel, the same way other remodeling companies start out, began with Dave & Brenda wearing all the hats: swinging hammers through all hours of the day, juggling phone calls, meeting clients through the week and on weekends, and managing all the bookkeeping in between. After several months of growth, it was time to hire team members for help in the field and, eventually, the office.

As their remodeling company in Salem started to grow legs, Dave & Brenda stuck to their vision like glue. What did it mean to lead a world-class remodeling company? How would Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel prove to be different? Every next step in the company would center around these questions, preserving the core values Dave & Brenda wanted to accomplish. First and foremost, Blackdog Design/Build/Remodel would have to meet two crucial expectations:

This new remodeling company would have to deliver great experiences building excellent projects, and projects would be completed on time, and on budget. No exceptions!

The model was simple, but you’d be surprised how the industry is tempted to meet some expectations while others get lost along the way! Dave & Brenda had something else in mind: they were compelled to write a formal business plan for building their first Blackdog Remodeling Showroom in 1995.

The first Blackdog Remodeling Showroom housed some of the most creative and exciting displays, managed by the growing team of talented people. By the year 2000, Blackdog was bursting at the seams with growth! At this point, the current showroom and office building was constructed, which allowed for more flexibility. In 2009, Dave & Brenda opened a second location in Amherst, NH.
